Please answer each question as thoroughly as possible.
Make sure to number each answer – Write “1” for your Q 1 answer, and “2” for your Q2 answer. Within each question, there are sub-questions A, B and it would be very helpful if you also have separate small paragraphs for each of these sub-answers (follow the same format in your answers as the questions are written). The more clearly you answer each part of each question, the easier it will be for our class GA to read and score your answers, which are based on both quality of your content and quality of your writing skills.
1. Please watch Charlie Chaplin’s Factory video clip in his early silent film, “Modern Times.”
A. Would you ever consider taking a job that had you to do the same repetitive activity or task (ex. something very easy to learn/do or provides no mental challenge, very boring) – why or why not?
B. What if such a job paid extremely well or offered excellent benefits (based on whatever you believe is an extremely well paying job or a job with excellent benefits) – would you be more inclined to take the job then – why or why not?
2. On page 8 in your textbook, please read the section profile on Ursula Burns’s career rise from intern to CEO of Xerox. Subsequent to the publication of this textbook, Ms. Burns retired as one of the most successful and respected CEOs in Xerox’s long history.
A. Based on what you read about Ms. Burns, please identify what you believe are the unique skills and characteristics Ms Burns possesses that have helped her in her career?
B. Are there any skills or characteristics that you share with Ms. Burns? Moreover, are there skills or characteristic that you believe you need to further develop that will enable you to be more productive/successful professionally? If so, what specific skills/characteristics are they (you only have to identify a few), and what can you begin to do differently to further develop them?
